You don't have to resort to using candles to reduce your electric bills.  Chances are
your appliances are no longer working efficiently.  Refrigerators that are older, can
be running your electric bill up, sometimes costing the home owner as much as
$300.00 per year.  Old, inefficient or malfunctioning applainces may be causing your
electric bill to spike, but which one?  You certainly cannot go out and replace every
appliance to find out.

Beware of phantom load!  What is phantom load?  As you sleep, when you’re on
vacation, when you’re at home and when you’re not, appliances around your house
are secretly using small amounts of energy even though they have been turned off.
This power usage is referred to as “phantom electricity loads” and depending how
how many electric gadgets you have around the house, can be costing you quite a
bit.  According to the Department of Energy almost 75% of electricity used to power
electronics and chargers is consumed while the products are turned off.  Unplug
those chargers to save!
